As Assistant Bodyshop Manager, you will support the Bodyshop Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the Bodyshop, helping to ensure efficient workflow, right‑first‑time repairs and excellent customer satisfaction. You will play a key role in supervising colleagues, coordinating repairs and maintaining manufacturer and industry standards, while contributing to the achievement of departmental and business targets.

What you’ll do day to day

  • Support the Bodyshop Manager with the day‑to‑day operation of the Bodyshop, ensuring efficient workflow, productivity and high‑quality repair standards.
  • Supervise technicians and support staff to maintain right‑first‑time repairs, strong performance and compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Coordinate job scheduling, parts ordering and repair timelines to maximise efficiency and turnaround times.
  • Monitor work quality, ensuring all repairs meet manufacturer, safety, environmental and industry standards.
  • Support the customer journey by assisting with estimates, customer updates and resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with budget control, cost management and inventory monitoring to support departmental profitability.
  • Ensure the Bodyshop environment is clean, safe, organised and compliant with health & safety requirements.
  • Step in for the Bodyshop Manager when required, supporting leadership, decision‑making and operational continuity.
  • Maintain an understanding of Bodyshop systems and processes, supporting accurate administration and reporting.

  • Previous experience working within an automotive Bodyshop or similar environment.
  • Experience in a supervisory, team‑leader or assistant management role is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with the ability to motivate, support and guide a team.
  • Good understanding of vehicle repair processes, manufacturer standards and industry requirements.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to support customer and insurer conversations.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A proactive, flexible and solution‑focused approach to problem‑solving.
  • Proficiency with Bodyshop management systems is an advantage.
  • Relevant automotive qualifications or certifications are desirable.
